Carl was proud to have a part in the construction of Decorah schools, Luther College and surrounding area schools. He enjoyed taking part planning in the business even when his health began to slow him down. He died suddenly at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital 3 Jul 1973 at 77 years of age.

It was Carl Vick’s dream that his descendants in the business would continue to give the same high quality service to the community and surrounding area that he had strived for during his lifetime.

Frances Ann (Vick) Schai

Frances Ann born 6 Mar 1920 is often called Vicki (See: Vick, Arthur). She married Tedd Schai (b. 30 May 1919) 23 Sep 1944. Vicki worked in accounting for the E.J. Longyear Co.; in business sales for the Walker Art Center; for Equitable Life and for J.C. Penny Co. Tedd worked for Brown and Bigalow Co. as manager of their stenographic and order department. He retired in 1981 from Moore Data Co. as their National Customer Service Manager. He is presently driving "Miss Daisy" around - that includes not only his wife, but also his sister. They have 3 children: Thomas, Terry and Timothy.

Thomas William was married to Kathleen Barton. He then married Ruthann Kurth 22 May 1981. After receiving his MA from the University of Minnesota, he worked as a supervisor at Totam Town in St. Paul and is presently a counselor at Lino Lakes, Anoka County. Tom is also a computer programmer. Ruthann has her PHD from the University of Minnesota and teaches Educational Psychology at Macalester College in St. Paul. They have 2 children: Natalie Sara and Daniel.

Terrance Michael (Terry) graduated from the U. of MN. and taught elementary school. He is presently transportation agent supervisor for Northwest Airlines. Terry married Susan Gesinger on 4 Sep 1971. Susan graduated from Lakewood Community College with an A.A. Degree and attended Mankato State. She works at the Given Co. as a manufacturing purchasing agent. They have one adopted child, Kristin. Timothy Theodore (Tim). He works for the Nickleby’s Restaurant where he has been chosen worker of the day, the month and the year several times. He was born with Down's Syndrome.

Margaret Jean (Marjean) born 6 Sep 1923 worked at Walker Art Center, art supply sales at H.A. Rogers Co., and for Dayton's Department Store in Minneapolis. She married Eugene Hanley (b. 5 Feb 1912) who worked for his folks in the laundry/dry cleaning business. He attended the U. of MN, University of Hawaii (Japanese Language) while a Marine in WWII. He participated in the Battle of Okinawa and subsequently in Japanese troop repatriation in China. They have 7 children: Michael, Patrick, Monica, Timothy, Stephen, Marcia and Robert.

Michael John married Alice Norgaard. While in Anoka High School he broke the MN state mile record. After graduating from the U of MN with a B.S. Degree, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a helicopter pilot. He is presently a sportswear sales representative in the upper midwest for his brother’s sportswear distributing business. Alice is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College. She worked for Lutheran Brotherhood as a training materials specialist and is now an “at home Mom” plus being a consultant for Lutheran Brotherhood. They have one child: Eric. Patrick Brian married Yvonne Stenerson. Yvonne graduated from the U of MN, Valedictorian of her Dental Class. She practices in Fergus Falls, MN. Pat graduated from the U of MN and owns a sportswear distributing warehouse for the Atlanta based Hartwell Industry’s jackets and sportswear in Fergus Falls. They have no children. Monica Jayne graduated from business college and worked several years for the Litton Co. She is a Telecommunications Analyst for MTS Systems Corp. in Eden Prairie, MN. Timothy James married Kristen Boege. Tim earned an Associate Degree from Anoka-Ramsey Technical College and is a mechanic. Kris is a licensed pharmacist. Stephen Joseph  graduated from Anoka High. He served in the U.S. Army and presently works in sales in Los Angeles. Marcia Jean married Michael Cleys. He is a lock technician for a banking equipment company. Marcia works for General Mills in Golden Valley, MN as an administrative assistant.They have 3 boys: Zackery Michael; twins Jake and Joseph. Robert Bruce (b. 4 Sep 1967 - d. 2 Feb 1988) was a Down’s Syndrome child. He died at home from cancer at the age of 20.
